Did you know ongoing continued need isn’t required for urological or ostomy supplies?
In the ostomy policy article, under continued need it indicates once initial medical need is established, ongoing need for ostomy supplies is assumed to be met. This means there is no requirement for you to obtain additional documentation annually, as long as the beneficiary meets the prosthetic device benefit. This same information is added to the future urological policy article with an effective date 07/26/20.
Prosthetic devices replace all or part of an internal body organ or replace all or part of the function of a permanently inoperative or malfunctioning internal body organ. This information can be found in the supplier manual under DMEPOS benefit categories.
